Oh, gosh, don’t get me started. If the actress isn’t pretty, she doesn’t stand a chance (whereas men only need to be good actors). If she is pretty, then she’s a terrible actress-just a pretty face.
Drives me nuts!
Who was it? It’s been mentioned before that there are no true “hero” movies or stories about women, not in the Gladiator or 10,000 B.C. sense.
Why not? That’s what I want to write. A heroine, a girl. They said that even in Joan of Arc, half the story is about proving she can “even though” she is just a girl/woman.
I want a big heroine, a real big one, one that can be Joan of Arc but without excuses or time spent “proving” she can “even though” she’s a girl.

Exactly! A heroine who is just accepted by other characters around her as strong…period. If they accept it, then the audience will. No explanations necessary.
