In my last post, I was counting my blessings. Rightfully so. I’ve got a lot of good stuff in my life. Today, though, I’m feeling grumpy, so I’m gonna rant. But just a little.
Last year my mother-in-law gave us this boat. She was hoping it would mean we could spend lots of quality time with her on the many lakes and ponds of Maine. There are a few problems with this theory.
1. See this car here? This wimpy Hyundai Elantra? It’s our car. Excellent gas mileage, excellent CD player; not so excellent when it comes to hauling heavy boats.
2. Have you seen the price of gas lately?????? Not only would we have to borrow a truck big enough to haul the monster boat–which would cost us about a hundred bucks to fill up–we’d have to fill the monster boat with gas. I don’t think so.
3. Insert mother-in-law joke here. Whatever it is, it will apply.
So, we’re stuck with this big, ugly boat. It’s cluttering up my backyard, driving me nuts. I’m thinking about parking it on the front lawn, filling it with dirt and planting flowers in it. Gardening is about the only hobby I can afford right now. That and reading.
Speaking of reading, check out Chapter 11 of Waiting for Spring at Readers and Writers Blog. I forgot to plug Chapter 10 on Thursday and that’s a shame. It’s nuttin’ but sex. I think you’ll like it.
That kinda sucks. Good luck with it though, hope things work out with the boat and the car and the ….. mother in law.

Seems to me, if you turned that boat into a neat little herb garden you might actually save some money instead and come out ahead!
And I’ll bet the kids would love it.
